My name is Lindsay MacDonald, and I am honored to serve as the ExecutiveDirector of Dress for Success Kingston. However, the role that means the mostto me is simply being "mom." My journey to this position may haveseemed like a happy accident, but in hindsight, it’s clear that it was theresult of the relationships and work ethic I built in my community. It was mynetwork that connected me to this incredible organization, and the timing couldnot have been more perfect.
After stepping away from my job to spend more time with my young children, Ifelt a strong desire to find something for myself—a sense of purpose beyond thetitle of "mom." That opportunity came when an acquaintance invited meto a Dress for Success Kingston fundraising event. The night was beautiful, butwhat truly touched me was hearing a client share her story. The room was filledwith emotion, hope, and transformation. It was in that moment that I realizedthe power of a supportive community and the impact that purpose-driven work canhave on both our professional and personal lives.
What I’ve come to understand is that when we support one another, we don’tjust uplift the individual—we elevate entire families. The positive change inone person can create a ripple effect, touching everyone around them. Theinvisible threads of hope and support weave through our community, reminding usall that together, we can transform lives.
